How can you close the divide between Planning & Scheduling?

How can you close the divide between planning & scheduling

In the world of planning and scheduling we have to make assumptions, because, operationally, we can safely say unexpected things happen.

Whether it be plant breakdowns, last minute changes to demand or the lack of a key piece of packaging, these can leave us with too much or too little stock.  Having these problems on a daily or weekly basis could lead to costly firefighting solutions and ultimately the loss of business.

Are you making the right assumptions?

Scheduling problems can be driven by the lack of a clear and coherent plan.  At other times the lack of shared vision can impact the relationship between the two.  If the basic data and assumptions are not shared, then mismatches can, and will occur.

Be realistic…

By using FuturMaster, we can share the assumptions and constraints in  a consistent manner and view the plans, schedules and realisation of both at the same time.  We can do all this whilst retaining the distinct identities of the plan and schedule.

The amount and quality of the data needed for detailed scheduling can be daunting, especially when constantly monitoring, and this can make or break a scheduling system.  If high quality, trusted, detailed data is available, this can lead to excessive focus on the schedule and less on planning.  Creating a seamless and balanced integration of the two lies at the heart of FuturMaster’s solution.

Why collaboration is not efficient?

By Stéphanie Duvault-Alexandre, Senior Presales Consultant Once upon a time some gurus began to point all of us in the right direction, i.e. collaboration.   Indeed, individualism and lone-wolf attitudes were, and have been since, considered as non-productive practices that only created an obstacle to the process of achieving company’s goals. For years people have tried to […]
